Our topic is PRP, a groundbreaking treatment that offers hope and renewal to men! We are here with our interview with the first clinic that performs PRP applications in Turkey.
Dr. Tas: It’s my pleasure. I’m here to shed light on PRP Penile Injections and how they can make a positive impact on the lives of many men.
Host: Let’s start with the basics. What exactly does PRP stand for?
Dr. Tas: PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. It’s a regenerative autologous treatment, meaning it comes from a patient’s own blood and stimulates cellular regeneration and tissue repair.
Host: I think you are the first and longest clinic to apply P-Shot® treatment in Turkey?
Dr Tas: Yes, we’ve been doing it since 2018, and we published our study in 2021 in the journal Sexual Medicine. Sexual Medicine 9 (2), 100313-100313, 2021.
Host: I think the same situation applies to Penile Shock Wave treatment in Turkey.
Dr. Taş: Yes, we have been using ED 1000 (First EWST device) shock wave therapy to the penis since 2012, I received my certificate in the USA in 2013, we have been combining it with PRP treatment since 2018.
Host: Can you share some of the benefits that men can experience from the P-Shot®?
Dr. Tas: Absolutely. Men undergoing the P-Shot® can enjoy stronger, firmer erections, improved sexual stamina, increased penile length and girth, relief from Peyronie’s Disease curvature, resolution of penile pain, heightened sensitivity in the penis, and better overall blood flow.
Host: Impressive. Now, some may wonder if the P-Shot® is the same as Trimix Injections. What would you say to that?
Dr. Tas: No, they’re different. Trimix is a shot designed for a brief erection, administered each time needed. On the other hand, the P-Shot® is a comprehensive treatment aimed at reviving and enhancing natural erections.
Host: How does the P-Shot® work, on a cellular level?
Dr. Tas: The high concentration of platelets in PRP releases growth factors and proteins. These, in turn, activate stem cells, stimulate cellular repair and regeneration wherever applied in the body. Collagen production and the formation of new blood vessels further aid in tissue repair.
Host: That’s a detailed explanation. How is PRP acquired for the P-Shot® procedure?
Dr. Tas: During the procedure, a small amount of blood is drawn, processed in a specially designed centrifuge – in our case, the Pure PRP® system. Platelets are isolated and injected back into the body where their benefits are needed. With numbing cream and a block on the penis, the procedure is painless.
Host: How long does the P-Shot® procedure typically take?
Dr. Tas: The PRP injection is performed in our office and usually takes about 60 minutes from start to finish. We allow a little extra time, and patients can drive themselves home afterward.
Host: After the procedure, are there any additional steps that patients need to take?
Dr. Tas: Yes, using a Vacuum Erection Device (VED) is crucial for optimal success. This is typically done twice daily and takes only a few minutes. Success rates are generally lower without it, so we guide patients through it initially.
Host: When can patients resume sexual activity after the P-Shot® procedure?
Dr. Tas: Patients can typically resume sexual activity about 4 hours after the procedure on the same day.
Host: And finally, are there potential side effects of the P-Shot®?
Dr. Tas: Since PRP is extracted from a patient’s own blood, potential side effects are minimal and may include minor bleeding or bruising, swelling, and very rarely, infection.
